Bio
Marina Eng was born in Russia in 1977. With a background in graphic design, she came to fine art photography through commercial and advertising projects. She has been based in New York since 2012.
Marina’s artistic approach combines classical photography and hybrid media to create a unique style characterized by a soft color palette and emotional depth. Her work reflects the complexity of the female experience, focusing on themes of life crises, vulnerability and ageing.
In 2022, her work, a portrait of her daughter Sonya, won 3rd place in the LensCulture Art Photography Awards and was featured in the Photo London exhibition at Somerset House.
Artistic statement
I draw inspiration from both classical painting and contemporary visual practices. My work is a fusion of fine art photography with elements of collage, hybrid imagery, video art, and assemblage.
At the heart of my artistic exploration is the woman and her inner world. I’m drawn to themes of growing up, overcoming life crises, vulnerability, fear, self-acceptance, and the inevitability of aging.
In particular, I focus on the moment when a person encounters change—whether internal or external—and begins to rediscover themselves, shaping a new life experience.
