My Mom. 2023

(32×40 inch / 80×100 cm)

Each person is a universe — a constantly changing universe.

When I was a child, my mother was an unshakable rock. She seemed to know everything and never doubted anything. That was until she grew old. Now she seems lost, turning into the little girl from her childhood photos. I started photographing her because when she poses, she returns to her old self—strong and confident.

And I increasingly ask myself: who am I now and who will I be tomorrow? Our identity is so fragile that it can easily break. Or maybe become stronger. Who knows?

Portrait of my Mom from October 3rd to 31st, 2025 was on view at the Identity Exhibition at the Glasgow Gallery of Photography. 279-281 High Street, Glasgow G4 0QS
